A Table That Grows With the Occasion

At 120cm, the BM0121 is perfectly proportioned for four — intimate enough for everyday meals, generous enough to feel unhurried. Add in an extension leaf (available to buy separately) and it extends to 180cm, comfortably seating six without the table losing its sense of occasion. The transition is smooth and considered, as you would expect from a design that has been in production for over 70 years.

The white pigmented oak finish gives the table a pale, Nordic quality — light without being stark, warm without being heavy. It works equally well in a bright, open-plan kitchen and a more formal dining room, and it will only improve as the oak develops its patina over time.

 

A Design Recovered From a Single Model

Børge Mogensen first presented the BM0121 at the Arts and Crafts Spring Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1952, designed as part of a democratic furniture series for smaller homes. When Carl Hansen & Søn relaunched it, no drawings existed — the design was recreated entirely by measuring an original model by hand. That level of fidelity to the source is rare, and it shows in the result: a table that feels genuinely of its era without feeling dated.

Please note: Solid oak responds to changes in humidity and temperature. To prevent cracking, avoid placing the table near direct heat sources or in rooms with sudden environmental changes. Wood grain on the extension leaf may vary slightly from the main top — a natural characteristic of solid timber.
