Originally, the chair was weaved in peddig pipe but is now relaunched with a new and durable FSCTM-certified paper cord weave; a natural and durable

The PK1 dining chair marked the beginning of an impressive career, serving as an outstanding example of the designer’s unique ability to lend vitality to steel. Kjærholm had a penchant for working with steel, preferably in combination with organic materials, to add softness and comfort to a tightly reduced design. 70-year’s expertise with woven paper cord.

It takes a skilled craftsmen 15 hours and 180 meters of paper cord to weave the seat on the PK1. The complicated weaving technique, which is equally beautiful from both the front and the back, was specially developed for PK1, and the inspiration behind the technique is taken from Kjærholm’s original work with peddig pipes.

The chair stacks up to 4 pieces, suitable for both private and public use.
