Conceived by Poul Kjærholm in 1954, the PK23 existed only as sketches for decades — a chair ahead of its time, waiting for the right moment. Approved for production by Kjærholm’s wife Hanne, the Front Upholstered edition adds a panel of fabric to the seat shell, softening the form without compromising its low, wide, conversational posture. It is the kind of chair you settle into rather than sit on — wide enough to shift position, reclined enough to stay a while.
The structure remains true to Kjærholm’s original vision: two vertically divided laminated veneer shells — seat and backrest — joined by a precisely engineered backrest bracket in brushed zamak.
