Fritz Hansen PK23 Lounge Chair - Ex-Display
Manufacturer: Fritz Hansen
Designer: Poul Kjærholm
This is an original licensed Fritz Hansen piece
Conceived by Poul Kjærholm in 1954, the PK23 existed only as sketches for decades — a chair ahead of its time, waiting for the right moment. Fritz Hansen has now brought it to production, and it sits comfortably alongside Kjærholm’s most celebrated works: low, wide, and built for unhurried conversation.
The form is immediately distinctive. Two vertically divided laminated veneer shells — one for the seat, one for the backrest — are joined by a precisely engineered connector detail in brushed zamak. It is a chair that rewards close inspection: the joinery is part of the design. The wide, reclined posture invites you to settle in rather than perch, making it as well suited to a reading corner as to a living room centrepiece.
This ex-display piece is finished in Ash Black shell with a brushed stainless steel base — cooler and more refined than the powder coated alternative, with a subtle material contrast that suits both minimal and eclectic interiors.
