The Womb Chair represents a pivotal moment in mid-century design. Created in 1948 by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen in response to Florence Knoll's challenge of creating "a chair she could curl up in", this iconic piece combines sculptural form with functional comfort. Its fiberglass shell, upholstered in quality fabric and supported by a polished chrome or painted black steel rod base, cradles the body and encourages a naturally reclined posture. The generous proportions and enveloping design deliver both physical support and psychological ease qualities that have secured its place as one of Knoll's most enduring and recognisable seating solutions.
