The idea for the ES 106 Soft Pad Chaise came from a longtime friend of Charles and Ray Eames ā the film director Billy Wilder, who was in search of a recliner for taking short naps during breaks between film shoots. The result is one of the most characterful pieces in the Eames canon: a chaise that is as quietly cinematic as its origin story.
Six cushions joined with zippers are attached to the die-cast aluminium frame, with two additional loose cushions providing extra comfort. The padded leather upholstery is available in L20 or L50 grades. The powder-coated aluminium base is finished in smooth black. Recommended for residential use only.
