Carl Hansen MT221 Tulip Pendant Light
Manufacturer: Carl Hansen & Son
Designer:Ā Marianne Tuxen
The Tulip Pendant began as a commission for one of Copenhagenās most significant interiors. It was too good to stay there.
Marianne Tuxen designed the MT221 in 2022 for the restoration of the Pompeii Hall at the Carlsberg Academy in Copenhagen - a space that demanded something with both presence and restraint. The result is a pendant that earns its name: three layers of mouth-blown opal glass form a shade that opens like a tulip, the form tapering upward into a solid brass suspension that merges with the glass rather than interrupting it.
The layered glass diffuses light softly and without glare, producing an ambient quality that works as well in a domestic dining room as it did in a historic hall. The brass suspension is precise and considered - a detail that rewards close attention without demanding it.
Available in two sizes: 170mm for intimate settings or grouped installations, 360mm as a statement solo pendant.
- Lightsource: Max 13W ā E27 (not included)
- Cord: 3.5m white fabric cord
- Available in 170mm and 360mm
